Membership in the Okinawa Karatedo Seijitsu Shin Do Kan Kyokai is open to all who are actively engaged in the study of traditional Okinawan martial arts or those who are seeking to learn about their styles history and development.
There are 4 types of membership to the OKSSDK
1. Student Membership (Kyu or Dan Rank) Students who are training in a member dojo
2. Jun-Shibu Dojo – a dojo who is training to convert to the OKSSDK curriculum
3. Shibu Dojo – a fully licensed and recognized dojo who is teaching the OKSSDK curriculum
4. Member Dojo – A Dojo who is teaching Okinawan karate and is a member of the association to gain knowledge but is not training in Shorin Ryu Karatedo and not pursuing rank advancement.
Membership is available to students through OKSSDK-affiliated schools.
Individual memberships (Ronin) are extended to students and instructors under special circumstances. The Okinawa Karatedo Seijitsu Shin Do Kan Kyokai will allow individuals not associated with a dojo or instructor to register and advance after supplying proper credentials. These individuals will be allowed to advance after time-in-grade is accomplished. They will also be assigned a ranking instructor who will mentor the progression of students/ mudansha.
We encourage the head instructor of a dojo or training class to register their students.
All members must pay the fees set by the Okinawa Karatedo Seijitsu Shin Do Kan Kyokai in order to secure OKSSDK credentials and certification. All members are also required to stay current with their membership by renewing the same on an annual basis.
