About Okinawa Karatedo Seijitsu Shin Do Kan Kyokai Crest

Our  crest took many years and a few designs to finalize. It represents many   aspects of our history and it is very meaningful to us.

• The flag of Okinawa is at the center of the   patch to represent the birthplace of karate and where our karate comes from.
• The kanji in the middle reads “Shuri Te”   which is the original form of “te” where our karate came from. 
• The yellow flower is the symbol of Japan and   it is incorporated into our patch because Nitta Seifuku, 10th Dan   / Hanshi had a strong influence on our dojo / organization and he wore that   on his gi and obi based on the fact his grandfather was given permission by   the emperor of Japan for his family to use the emperor’s crest.
• The gold and purple are royal colors used at   Shuri castle.
• The kanji on top reads “Okinawa Karatedo” and the kanji on the bottom reads “Seijitsu   Shin Do Kan Kyokai”

 Our kobudo crest varies slightly with the 2 changes of the crossed sai in the middle to represent kobudo and the kanji on top reading “Okinawa Kobudo”.
